Jerry's Midnight Getaway

DESCRIPTION

This is a submission for the Creators Without Borders Weekly Jam that was a stealth themed jam, and was my personal 1st Jam and Game. The game's plot is you are a young adult named Jerry, that after having a bit of "fun time" with your girlfriend, are caught by her father! You must gather your belongings and escape without being caught and escape out of the house..

WHAT WENT RIGHT?

I think probably the best part of the game was the Artwork/SFX/Music. We were able to make about 80% of the game with completely original Artwork/SFX/Music and I think everyone did a great job on it. Honestly the game only contains about half of the assets we made, unfortunately we ran out of time. All-in-all a very educational and fun experience.

WHAT WENT WRONG?

Allot.. I think it went better than you could expect of a 1st time jam/game. I don't want to go into detail of the numerous coding/building problems so ill focus more on the things pertaining to the team. Collaboration was pretty iffy when it came to building/scripting the game. Unity removed their "collab" feature and we couldn't figure out how to use Github, so the entire collaboration project was done through sharing files in discord and walking each other through how to do things. I also think for me personally I could have made a more structured "to-do list" and spent more time thinking about exactly what we needed for the game. Clear communication on my part was lacking. Also, Seems like a few bugs happend in the build of the game, not sure why as it was working before. (few of the objects are on the wrong layer, enemy not changing the way he is facing)

WHAT DID I LEARN?

Plan ahead and communicate clearly, don't wait until the last minute. numerous scripting methods, Unity functions and pixel art. A bit of lead dev experience.
